historic Iraqi items offered at www.manions.com
News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - For centuries, soldiers and contractors around the world have returned home with wartime souvenirs. Manion’s International Auction House (www.manions.com) has brokered the sale of these souvenirs since 1970, and now announces the auction of a unique grouping from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Desert Storm.
A featured item in this lot includes a prayer rug used by Hussein, and once featured in a CNN report. It was presented to the consignor by a servant in the Presidential Palace in Tikrit. Manion’s will begin accepting bids for this unique collection beginning March 1, 2006 and ending March 19, 2006 at 8:30pm CST.
The collection also includes: uniform items worn by Hussein and other high ranking officers, leaflets and bumper stickers offering to pay a bounty for information on Hussein’s whereabouts, and pre-1959 Order of El-Rafidain (“Two Rivers”) grand cross and sash, awarded for exceptional service, much like the US Medal of Honor. American military uniforms, specialized gear, and insignia will also be featured.
“This is an impressive collection,” says company representative John Conway, “we feel fortunate to get the chance to see all of these authentic, museum quality items.”
A unique opportunity to own history as it is happening. Photos of items featured in upcoming auction can be seen now on the homepage of www.manions.com.
