Saxonville Auction Services, the Virtual Auction Hall in Framingham, MA will feature Music Memorabilia, including Concert Posters of the Psychedelic Sixties featuring important, historic artists and musicians such as The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Jefferson Airplane and many others in an auction sale on Saturday March 11, 2006. Also offered will be investment grade, nostalgic and decorative items including Backstage Passes, Magazines, Concert Programs and CDs, from groups like The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Dick Clark, Aerosmith and many others.
A collection of programs signed by the stars of Murray The K’s concerts at the famous Paramount and Fox Theaters in New York in the early 1960s including Jackie Wilson, Ben E. King, Chuck Jackson, The Shirelles, The Ronettes, The Shangri Las and many more.
Backstage passes and memorabilia form 30 year production manager Al Dotoli will be sold including items he received working as an assistant tour manager for Frank Sinatra for 10 years and tour manager for Dionne Warwick such as rare concert posters from foreign tours. Al also produced thousands of concert including acts such as the Rolling Stones, and Saxonville will sell many lots of interesting memorabilia.
This is different than most auctions, as there will not be a live audience during the actual bidding process. All bids will be from left bids, phone bids and Internet bidding through the www.Proxibid.com interactive auction system. You will actually hear the voice of the auctioneer prompting you to continue to bid online. The catalog will appear on proxibid.com with pictures and descriptions prior to the live preview, and Internet bidders will be able to bid in real time with one click bidding.
There will be a live, in-person preview on Friday March 10 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday March 11 from noon until 6:00 p.m. where interested parties can see and touch the catalogued items, and can leave Left Bids to be entered on their behalf during the real time auction. Those who are extremely interested in certain items can request to be on the phone during the sale of those items. Everyone who participated in the last auction expressed enjoyment with the system.
There is a 10% buyers’ premium, 5% sales tax for MA residents, with pick-up available on Sunday for those wishing to save on the shipping and handling expenses, and there are many lots for dealers who sell in shops or online.
The auction facility is operated by Gary Sohmers, proprietor of Wex Rex Collectibles, and frequent talk show host/guest, who also happens to appear as an appraiser in collectibles, toys, pop culture and memorabilia on the Emmy nominated PBS TV series “Antiques Roadshow.”
