Mickey Mouse Ingersoll vintage pocket watch 1933 Rarely does one come across such a treasure! This is the very first Mickey Mouse pocket watch, made in 1933 and probably the most desired by Disney memorabilia collectors!
News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - A box of odds and ends was part of a lot purchased at a recent estate sale. I was not aware of it at the time but among the various pieces in this collection was a very rare Ingersoll Mickey Mouse pocket watch from 1933. This is Disney's very first mechanical wind pocket watch made during the time that the Mickey Mouse cartoon, introduced in 1928, was becoming popular in this country. During my Internet investigation of this watch I discovered that the original wristwatch version of this 1933 watch sold recently at auction for over six thousand dollars!
This particular watch is in good outer condition but needs the minute hand and second hand circle. The face shows some age discoloration and the case has a small dent on the back rim. The crystal and bezel (not shown) has been replaced since the picture was taken. It needs a thorough cleaning and the missing parts to keep accurate time. An unusual feature of this particular watch is that pushing down on the crown moves the hand instead of pulling it out. Usually the opposite is true. I recently found a source for restoration of these rare Ingersoll watches with access to all original parts. It could be made to look just like it was in 1933!
This extremely rare watch measures approximately 2 by 2 1/2 inches and is marked 'Mickey Mouse Ingersoll' on the face at the 3:00 o'clock marker, 'Ingersoll Mickey Mouse' on the back of the case with an etched picture of Mickey, and 'Made in USA' and model number 86281173 on the movement. This is a beautiful extremely rare and unique treasure!
