Vintage clothing and related accessories including hats, shoes, flat textiles and linens to benefit The Florence Griswold Museum of Old Lyme, Connecticut. Vintage clothing and linens from private sources will also be offered.
Also of interest is a Joseph Henry Sharp oil painting. The 9 3/8” x 13 ¼” painting is from a Connecticut household and depicts two Native Americans at rest in a landscape. Other artwork to be offered includes two Noel Rockmore oils of jazz musicians from a Connecticut household and works by Svend Svendsend and Vladimir Lebedev from a Rhode Island estate. In addition sculpture, paintings and a sculpted rug by the late William P. Katz will also be sold. Several works by A. Calder will be offered as well.
The sale will also feature antique and fine furnishings; jewelry; gold pocket watches; silver; glass including a Steuben Aurene glass basket; pottery and porcelain and two Kochs barber chairs.
Sarouk, Kapatrag, Mosul, Hamadan, Afshar, Karaja, Caucasian Shirvan, Turkish Sparta and Chinese rugs/carpets from a Rhode Island estate round out the sale.
The auction will begin at 6:30pm on February 13th. Previews are February 12th from 2-4pm and February 13th from 3-6:15pm or by appointment.
