Through its quarterly bulletins, biennial conventions, published booklets and network of regional groups, TCI promotes research and friendship. History: TCI has as its roots four national thimble collecting groups. Meetings were held as early as 1970. At the fourth national meeting of these groups in August 1976, the attendees expressed a need for a more formal organization. An Ad Hoc committee was formed to develop a constitution and By-laws and to propose a slate of officers.
In August 1978 TCI held it's first convention in Northbrook, Illinois. From its simple beginings of sharing information in a newsletter, Round-Robins and small group meetings, TCI has remained true to its mission to share information and build lifetime friendships. Thimble Collectors International will celebrate its 30 year anniversary in 2008.
