Japan’s First Internationally Acclaimed Artist, Ogata Gekko’s Complete Series of Deity Paintings For The First Time Ever, The Complete Set of Japanese Meiji Period Artist Ogata Gekko’s Series of Seven Monumental (nearly 8 feet tall) Paintings of Deities and Immortals is Now Being Offered for Sale
News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - Inside Studios is offering for sale a complete set of all 7 paintings in the monumental series of Paintings of Deities and Immortals, by the master artist of Japan's Meiji Period, Ogata Gekko (1859-1920), including the painting of Benten, the Goddess of Geisha, pictured here. Each painting is nearly 8 feet tall (91 x 40 inches, 231 x 101 cm). These are among the last paintings by Gekko, one of Japan’s greatest artists, that will ever be offered for sale, and likely the only time you will ever see a complete set of these historical works of art being offered all at once. Almost all of Gekko’s paintings are in museums or private collections, and are rarely offered for sale, so this is a rare and special find and opportunity. These incredible paintings come from a collection in Japan, and have been well preserved. The last time Inside Studios announced the availability of a complete set of work from the Gekko oeuvre, it sold within days. (See the 9/23/05 press release posted here under the following title: "For The 1st Time, a Complete Set of Woodblock Print Books by Japan’s Ogata Gekko is Offered for Sale".)
Inside Studios also maintains a separate non-commercial educational website devoted to Ogata Gekko (http://www.ogatagekko.com). You will find images and information there that cannot be found anywhere else.
