News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - Angora, MN -- Cathryn Peters, 30-year veteran wicker repair expert and owner of The Wicker Woman business, now offers a Furniture Repair Directory locator on her information and resource website, WickerWoman.com
Peters began her wicker repair, chair seat weaving and basketry business in 1975 as a home-based business located in southeastern Minnesota. Then in 1991 she leased a retail storefront in Zumbro Falls, MN where she repaired wicker and cane furniture, taught seat weaving and basketry classes, and sold antique wicker furniture.
After serving customers from that location for over 11 years, Peters and her family moved to northern Minnesota in 2002, and relocated in Angora, 60 miles from the Canadian border.
In 1999, realizing a need connect and bind together others in the fields of chair caning and wicker repair that might feel isolated, alone, "out of the loop," so to speak, Peters debuted her resource and information website.
WickerWoman.com has no e-commerce to speak of, other than sales of Cathryn's deer antler baskets and patterns, but instead offers over 35 pages of resources.
Until just recently, Peters has provided her website as a courtesy to her viewers and the businesses and artists listed on her site. But now through the annual paid ads listed in the Furniture Repair Directory and the Cane & Basket Supplies page it's generating a modest income. Donations to the site have also helped tremendously to keep the site going.
Asked many times by clients across the country if she could recommend anyone in their neighborhood to restore their furniture, Cathryn started the Furniture Repair Directory in 2004. The Directory is free to the customer and for a very nominal annual fee, business owners and hobbyist alike can post an ad. The Wicker Woman/Cathryn Peters does not guarantee or endorse the quality of the experts listed, however.
The Furniture Repair Directory provides experts in the fields of Wicker Furniture Repair, Chair Seatweaving, Upholstery and Stripping & Refinishing from across the country and Canada, that can repair and restore your prized family heirlooms or flea market finds.
Private party customers as well as antique dealers can contact an expert from the Directory that lives nearby to repair, paint, strip or upholster any type of furniture.
With over 35 businesses listed in the Seatweaving section alone, you're sure to find someone to provide chair caning or seatweaving of any type.
There are many cross-overs between business disciplines, so be sure to check out all four categories. Many wicker furniture repair experts also do chair seat weaving, and vice-versa. Many upholstery masters also do stripping & furniture repair on a limited basis. And frequently, refinishers also weave chair seats.
Besides the Furniture Repair Directory and the Cane & Basket Supplies page there are many other helpful pages such as; Wicker & Cane FAQ, Wicker & Cane Tip Sheets, Wicker Repair #101, Pricing, Antler Baskets, Cathryn's Teaching Schedule, Seatweaving, a monthly Ezine called, "Wicker Woman's Weavings," Seatweaving & Wicker Repair Discussion Board Forum, PictureTrail Photo Albums and a
