News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - Garden City, New York - January 04, 2006 - TIAS.com (http://www.tias.com) the Webs largest online antique and collectible mall today released their first annual report on where online buyers of antiques and collectibles originate. The company compiled all of the online purchases from from the previos year and determined which Countries and U.S. States generated the most online sales in 2005. The results are based on data from tens of thousands of online transactions and millions of dollars in sales over the past year.
Topping the list with the majority of online sales were buyers from the United States, generating 27 times more sales than buyers from Great Britain (UK) which came in a distant second. In the #3 position was Japan, which barely beat out Canada at #4, by just a few thousand dollars in sales. Australia at #5 came in very close to Canada, but was a clear winner over Germany at #6. Bringing up the end of the top 10 list were France #7, Italy #8, Sweden #9 and Spain at #10.
With the United States generating the lions share of online sales of antiques and collectibles for TIAS.com merchants in 2005, determining which U.S. states generated the most sales was the next logical step. Leading the pack in the #1 position was California with almost twice the sales of #2 New York. In the #3 position, quite close to New York was Texas. Coming in a close 4th to Texas was Florida, followed by Illinois at #5, Pennsylvania at #6, Tennessee at #7, New Jersey at #8, Ohio at #9 and last but not least, Missouri at #10.
"This is really interesting information." said Phillip Davies President of TIAS.com "International orders are increasing and I was quite surprised to see orders from Japan coming out ahead of those from our Canadian neighbors."
TIAS also generates annual and monthly reports on the top selling categories of antiques and collectibles as well as the top searches for antiques and collectibles. These reports can be viewed online at http://www.news-antique.com
