Here are details on some of the featured collections:
The history of African American music of the 20th Century is captured in this catalog. ItsOnlyRockNRoll.com is honored to offer the incredible David Gest Poster Collection. In his many years as a Producer, and serious collector, David assembled an outstanding historical selection featuring many of the rarest cardboard boxing style posters. From early blues and R&B shows, through great line-ups such as “The Biggest Show of Stars for ’65,” boasting the likes of The 4 Tops, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Martha & The Vandellas, Junior Walker & The All Stars and The Marvelettes, most of which are in mint condition, these posters could set world records. Other Big Names on these posters include Buddy Holly, James Brown, Ike & Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye and The Supremes.
Complimenting the David Gest Collection is Part 1 of the Ray Overton Estate Collection. Mr. Overton promoted concerts in the Wichita, Kansas area from the 30’s into the early 60’s, and ItsOnlyRockNRoll.com is proud to offer the finest collection of posters ever to represent the history of black music, from Traditional to Popular, from Swing and Jazz to R&B and Blues, including Doo-Wop and Soul. Featured performers include: Ruth Brown, Lloyd Price, Fats Domino, The Ravens, Guitar Slim, Jackie Wilson, Etta James, B. B. King, Johnny Otis, Buddy Ace, Amos Milburn, T Bone Walker, Little Esther, and many more.
