The current issue discusses several major upcoming auctions of film paper: the December 8 auction at Christie's in London of over 300 exploitation style movie posters. There are some amazing posters on offer, including a double crown (30 x 20 inches) for Andy Warhol’s and Paul Morrissey’s Chelsea Girls ( 1966)with art by Alan Aldrige; the Italian quattro (79 x 55 inches) for Marijuana (Big Jim Mclain - 1952) starring John Wayne with art by Luigi Martinati and and a U.,s. one sheet (27 x 41 inches) for one of the classic psychedelic poster images, The Acid Eaters (1967..)
The second major sale is being mounted by Heritage Galleries of Dallas and will take place on November 11 and 12th. It features several super rare posters including Theif of Bagdad from 1924 and Wings from 1927, a number of posters fro 1930s Disney animated films and a massive collection of Humphrey Bogart film paper.
The blog also reviews Leonard Maltin's latest movie guide, Steve Sansweets Star Wars Poster Book and displays images of noted horror film posters, in keeping with the upcoming horriday.
