COMMENT: “Diamonds of all colors whether white, blue or pink sparkled in our sale. The Rose of Dubai, a 25.02ct fancy pink diamond, realized a staggering $240,000 per ct with more than four potential buyers fiercely competing to acquire the magnificent gem. There was intense bidding at every level and a world record price of $262,400 was achieved for an opal and precious gem necklace by Louis Comfort, Tiffany. A black enamel miniature model of a piano manufactured by Cartier and Steinway also realized an astonishing $318,400, well surpassing its presale estimate of $40,000,” said Rahul Kadakia, Head of Jewelry for Christie’s Americas. “My colleagues and I now look forward to the continuation of our Fall jewelry sale season with important sales in Geneva on 16 November and in Hong Kong on 29 November.”
