News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - Information on collecting clubs - and how to join - is getting a major boost through a new program launched by the Association of Collecting Clubs (ACC).
Called Join A Club, the program provides opportunities for collectors to request information about clubs participating in the program. By working with managers of antiques & collectibles shows and antique malls, galleries and auction houses as partners, ACC will provide club check off sheets, a large Join A Club poster and other necessary information for partners to fully participate in the program.
Larry Krug, ACC, explains, "after show or mall or gallery visitors have checked off their requests, the completed forms are returned to ACC, information entered into the computer and then sent to the respective clubs, and they send materials to the interested collector."
Krug adds, "an online request form will also be available at http://JoinAClub.Org and ACC anticipates a number of sites serving the antiques and collectibles industry will provide links to allow their visitors to participate in the program. Clip-out check sheets will also be available for collectibles publications."
"Collecting groups are a very important segment of the antiques, art and collectibles community," Krug says. "For many collecting areas, these clubs - and their members - represent the knowledge base for that collecting area. Many clubs are having serious problems with participation and experiencing aging memberships. On the other hand, we have more new collectors...and young collectors...today than ever before in history - many who are not familiar with collecting clubs and what they have to offer.
"The Join A Club program provides an excellent opportunity for malls, shows and other cooperators to not only help collecting clubs with their recruitment program, but also provides a continuing service to their own clientele who may be serious collectors but not aware of the many collecting clubs which exist that could be helpful to them."
Krug adds, "we are pleased to have over 500 clubs already involved in Join A Club as we launch this new program and, of course, welcome other collecting groups to contact us about becoming involved."
Anyone who would like additional information on participating in the Join A Club program can contact ACC at: info@JoinAClub.org or by calling 301.926.8663 or by writing: ACC, 18222 Flower Hill Way #299, Gaithersburg, MD 20879. Full information is also available on the JoinAClub.org website.
The Association of Collecting Clubs exists to support collecting groups, their leadership and members, in a variety of areas including club promotion, membership recruitment, reaching new audiences, strengthening conventions, working with young collectors, networking, club insurance and club management.
