$100,000 Bills, Antique Money Printing Press At ANA Las Vegas Show The U.S. Treasury Department's Bureau of Engraving and Printing will bring its "Billion Dollar Display" to the ANA collectibles show in Las Vegas, October 28 - 30, 2005
News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - (Las Vegas, NV) -- There will be high-denomination bucks exhibited in a city known for high-rollers during the first American Numismatic Association Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Show in Las Vegas, October 28 - 30, 2005. Officials of the U.S. Treasury Department Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) will bring their popular "Billion Dollar Display" and antique "spider press" to the three-day event in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
It will be the first time the colorful BEP exhibit will be seen in Nevada.
"The BEP's presence is always a major attraction at the annual ANA National Money Show™ and World’s Fair of Money® conventions, so everyone is delighted they’ll be setting up their impressive displays at the first ANA show in Las Vegas," said Christopher Cipoletti, ANA Executive Director.
The BEP traveling exhibit includes specimen notes of Series 1934 Gold Certificate $100,000 denomination paper money, as well as other high denomination bank notes and Treasury Department bonds. There will be daily demonstrations of a one-ton, hand-operated "spider press" that was used to print paper money more than 140 years ago, and planning is underway to produce a special BEP souvenir card for the show.
The printing press is nick-named "spider press" because of the large, hand-turned spokes that are used to operate the device.
In addition to the BEP displays, the ANA Money Museum will exhibit both the George O. Walton and Aubrey and Adeline Bebee specimens of the 1913 Liberty Head nickel. The unique 1787 Brasher Doubloon with punch mark on the eagle’s wing will be displayed by Rare Coin Wholesalers. This also will be the first time these coins will be exhibited in Nevada.
The ANA will conduct two educational seminars on grading and counterfeit detection. The specific dates and times of the seminars will be announced later.
"Dealer response to the show was quite good when it was first announced during the ANA's San Francisco convention in July. Some bourse tables are still available for the October Las Vegas show," said Ann Phan, Event Coordinator for the show.
Public auctions of coins and currency will be conducted in conjunction with the show by Bowers and Merena Auctions and Teletrade, both of Irvine, California.
The ANA Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Show in Las Vegas is sponsored by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and will be held in conjunction with the Las Vegas Antique Arms Show™.
