Wednesday, March 15:
Apeldoorn (B/L/D) We’ll begin with a morning visit to 't Loo Palace, built between 1685 - 1692 for William III; the palace was in recent years occupied by Queen Wilhelmina after her abdication in 1948; the surrounding park and adjoining royal forest is the largest nature reserve in Holland; in 1984 the palace was opened as a museum; one of its main features is the beautifully-restored 17th-century formal gardens
■ We will continue to just outside the town of Zutphen; here we will have lunch at a beautiful private manor where we will meet with the owners and tour their collection before returning to the hotel
■ Dinner this evening will be at a local restaurant within walking distance of the hotel
■ Overnight stay here in Apeldoorn
Thursday, March 16:
Apeldoorn/Maastricht (B/L) Our day begins with a morning check-out, and a drive to the Hoge Veluwe National Park where we will have a guided tour of the Kröller-Müller Museum with its nearly 300 works by Van Gogh
■ Followed by lunch at a local restaurant
■ In the afternoon we will continue south to the province of Limburg, where we will check in to the beautiful Chateau St. Gerlach located just outside the town of Valkenburg, a few kilometres outside of Maastricht
■ Dinner on your own
Friday, March 17:
Maastricht (B) Friday begins with a morning departure from the hotel for a visit to TEFAF (The European Fine Art Fair); here, we will have a tour of the Fair and hear in particular about the vetting process
■ In mid-afternoon we will return to the hotel with one special stop: the collection of Jo and Marlies Eyck—since 1981, residents of Castle Wijlre in the South of Limburg—where architect Wiel Arets has designed a new space - The Hegde House – for their extensive art collection amassed over a period of more than 40 years
■ Dinner on your own
Saturday, March 18:
Maastricht (B) We’ll begin with a short walking tour of Maastricht
■ Continue in the afternoon with more time to explore TEFAF on your own
■ Dinner on your own
Sunday, March 19:
Maastricht (B/D) Entire day free to spend at TEFAF on your own or optionally, to tour the area including a trip to the Aachen Dom and the Cathedral Treasury
■ Farewell dinner together at the hotel
