Thursday, October 6: Dublin
Thursday begins with a visit to the Royal Irish Academy in Dawson Street to see their important collection of old Irish manuscripts and early books
■ Morning visit with the Knight of Glin at his Dublin home in Waterloo Road; we’ll have a talk on Irish furniture, based on the Knight’s forthcoming book; and Mary Boydell will join us here as well with a talk on Irish glass.
■ Private lunch and visit at the home of Desiree Shortt in her magnificent restored town house in North Great George’s Street; she’s an expert on porcelain and has some very fine pieces on display
■ Visits to contemporary craft and art galleries
■ Afternoon visit to the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) to both view the building—the Royal Hospital at Kilmainham dating from the 17th-century—and to have a private tour with curator Catherine Marshall including a look at some works from the Outsider Art collection
■ This evening we go for drinks to the home of Pat and Antoinette Murphy in Churchtown. Pat Murphy is director of MOMA and previously head of the Irish Arts Council and Antoinette Murphy is owner of The Peppercannister Gallery; together they have a remarkable collection of 20th century Irish painting and sculpture, as well as many objects from around the world collected during their extensive travels.
Friday morning, October 7: Newcastle
Morning visit to Lyons Demesne, Newcastle, Co. Kildare, an 18th-century house built for Lord Cloncurry, and now owned by Dr. Tony Ryan, who has been an important collector of Irish Art and some very important pieces of Irish furniture

■ October 9: Late Morning/Early Afternoon: Castletown House, Celbridge; Return to hotel. Farewell pub party
