The older plastic buttons called realistics are great fun. There are Disney buttons, flowers, vegetables and fruit, animals, accessories like hats, pocketbooks, gloves, boots, suitcases and bows. There are baseballs, footballs, geometric shapes, hearts and so many more. The fun part of button collections is you can use them to decorate jackets, pillows, blouses or pocketbooks. They can be used for craft projects or simply to decorate by filling old glass jars. A wonderful idea to decorate for the holidays is to fill a pretty glass jar with seasonal color vintage buttons, like pastel pink, blue, yellow and white for Easter. There are many other fun collectibles in the sewing notions category such as old pincushions and vintage needle cards, which were usually give-aways in supermarkets. There are wonderful thimbles, sewing kits and baskets. Who can forget the older tape measures, scissors and darners.
