Stevens Auction Company has been commissioned to sell the contents of four distinguished estates from Louisiana, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Arkansas. A highlight of this auction will be a one-of-a-kind, 11-foot tall, Rosewood, four-piece, half-tester bed room suite (from an estate in New Orleans) which was made by Joshua Jones, of Cincinnati Ohio, per special request for the Carroll Family of Carrollton, LA, after whom the City of New Orleans annexed Carrollton in 1874 and named Carrollton Avenue. On Friday, at our Downtown Auction Facility, we will only be offering at auction the magnificent lifetime collection of Moser and other art glassware from the estate of Boyce and Betty Bateman, of Rector, Arkansas. On Saturday, at the Adams-French Mansion, we will be offering numerous, incredible Victorian bedroom suites, Victorian parlor furniture, marvelous lamps, remarkable clocks, a fabulous assortment of Flow Blue, and a myriad of other exquisite antiques. We will also be selling items from the estate of Robert Bowman and his wife, Madg. They entertained royally in their lovely home in Midnight and were prominent citizens of the area. Having lived to the ripe old age of 97, he was one of the Delta's leading planters. Robert Bowman was born in Yazoo County, Mississippi, in 1907. In 1925 he went to the Delta and worked in a store in Louise, soon buying into the business. From that point he and his partner went into farming. They eventually owned several thousand acres of prime farmland including Green Hill, Oxmead, and Straight Bayou plantations. The lovely silver pieces are from this estate.
