Staffordshire Figure Association - 2005 Conference Please join us starting Tuesday, June 14 through Thursday, June 16 for the Second Annual SFA Conference, 2005. It will be a wonderful opportunity for Staffordshire figure enthusiasts to come together
At 6:45 PM, we will have a get together with a cash bar and welcome dinner at the Lambertville Station Restaurant, a delightful, attractive venue next to the Inn.. After dinner we are trying to arrange the showing of a video of a British TV show featuring Staffordshire.
Wednesday June 15th—The Central Conference Day
The conference will be held in the hotel in a large bright meeting room. Scheduled are the following lectures and panel discussions:
Lecture by Adrian and Nick Harding, authors of the the 4 volume set "Victorian Staffordshire" which has become the bible of the field. Nick and Adrian are coming from England and will also have tables at our show and sale.
A talk and slide presentation by LaPlace Moss a collector of early and mythological figures who will discuss her field of interest.
Elinor Penna from Florida and New York and Julie Brisbane from the UK will also give talks.
An Author’s discussion will feature Victoria Moriarty who wrote "Staffordshire Figures A History in Earthenware 1740-1900" with Adele Kenny. Victoria is scheduled to join us from Austraila and, hopefullly, Adele will also be able to attend.
We would like to ask everyone to bring 2 or 3 figures from their collection to Wednesday’s conference. This could be any item of which you are unsure of age, country of manufacture, who or what the figure represents, valuation, etc. Our experts will be on hand to help! We know many of you will be travelling a great distance, so a clear photograph, instead of the actual figure, will be sufficient.
Lunch will break up the day and time will be set aside for a business meeting when members can elect officers, discuss ideas for future dates & venues, and ideas to advance the Association.
An excellent dinner with several menu choices including a signature lamb chop entrée will be served at the Lambertville Station Restaurant at 7:30 PM. The cash bar will open at 6:45 PM.
Two members have volunteered to create our long overdue newsletter. One in the States, and one in the U.K. Their addresses/ email addresses will be posted soon, and we will be pleased for anyone to submit articles & photos for future newsletters.
Our Conference in 2006 will in the U.K. at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. This will run during the Antique Show held there at the end of July. We need U.K. volunteers to help organise a schedule of events and lecture on Staffordshire and, hopefully, discuss and show slides of personal collections.
