New Blue Ridge Dinnerware Stock Blue Ridge is the ever popular, hand painted dinnerware that was made in the U.S.A. from 1917-1957. We are always adding new stock to our large selection available.
News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - Here at jantiques Collectibles we love our Blue Ridge dinnerware and china. We have been collecting Blue Ridge for 20 years and are now parting with some of the massive collection!
We have recently added several new pieces. There are many china and specialty pieces available in patterns including Christmas Tree and French Peasant.
Newly added are some demi tasse cups and saucers and some Weathervane pattern. Weathervane is one of the charming scenics featuring a barn and apple tree.
The demi cups and saucers come in many of the dinnerware patterns. They are always a challenge and a joy to find.
Blue Ridge started manufacturing dinnerware in 1917, usually marked with S.P.I or Southern Potteries, Inc. You will find this abbreviation all through their production and different backmarks over the years, until their closing in 1957.
The first dinnerware was decal decorated as was the style at that time. That was followed with stenciled borders with hand painted accents that eventually grew into full blown hand painted patterns with florals predominating.
During WWII, imports were not available, so they tryed to fill the gap with a collection of patterns along the lines of the popular French Faience, ie. French Peasant patterns. A border treatment also used during this time was a dot dot dot dash to signify Victory!
Come see Blue Ridge and discover why it is an enduring style of dinnerware.
