News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - Gene Holt, a retired farmer and pig collector, founded The Happy Pig Collectors Club in 1995. The club is celebrating its 10th anniversary during 2006/2007.
Our club membership consists of all sorts of folks from the US, Canada and Great Britain, from preteens to octogenarians who collect all sorts of pig theme items from Hummels to hog oilers, rare antiques, artifacts and art to Dollar Store and flea market finds, from Porky Pig comics to Olivia and Fred the Detective Books, from small specialized collections to massive eclectic ones. Some of our members own pigs as pets and would never think of eating a pork chop, and some raise pigs for market and wish that more folks would eat "the other white meat" and some of us just can't seem to acquire enough of the inanimate porcine critters. One of our members is listed in the Guinness Book of World records as having the worlds largest pig collection, now numbering over 11,500!
If you decide to join the club and to receive our newsletter, please know that our dues pay for the publication and mailing of four newsletters each member year. The newsletters are from 16 to 44 pages, 8 1/2 x 11, magazine format, black and white. They contain pictures and stories about fellow member's collections, stories about pigs, Pig-Out reviews that range from where to eat good BBQ to where to view pig collections on display in eateries, information about pig collectables and leads to buy more, plus other "pig related stuff". There is one newsletter published in the fall, one in the winter, one in the spring and one in the summer. Dues are $25.00 annually for members within the USA and $30.00 for those members outside of the USA. Dues should be sent to:
