Toy Car Collectors Association The Toy Car Collectors Association (TCCA) is an international association devoted to the collecting, preservation and enjoyment of die-cast, white metal, cast iron and other automotive toys and models
News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - The Toy Car Collectors Association (TCCA) was started in May 1994 as the Majorette Diecast Toy Collectors Association by Mr. Dana Johnson, author of several collector's guides to Matchbox and other toy cars, avid photographer, writer, and longtime collector.
Due to threats of litigation, corporate control and licensing fees from Majorette of France, the club was disbanded after publishing just one issue of its Majorette Toy Collector newsletter.
The club re-emerged after in November 1994 as the more generic North American Diecast Toy Collectors Association, eventually shortening the name to Diecast Toy Collectors Association to reflect growing international interest. Its official monthly newsletter was the "Diecast Toy Collector."
Membership peaked at around 400 members by the late 1990s, thanks to some free publicity in a major magazine, but gradually dropped to less than 50 by 2002 when the club's publication and associated membership fees were discontinued.
Meanwhile, another name change, to Toy Car Collectors Association, was made in December 2000 to better represent the interests of its membership and widen the scope of coverage.
Despite various setbacks, The Toy Car Collectors Association continues to function online through the Toynutz.com website and through the toy-car-collectors@yahoogroups.com shared e-mail list.
