News-Antique.com - Nov 30,-0001 - My book Collecting Visiting Card Cases, is published by the Søllerød Museum, Holte, Denmark, in connection with an exhibition (23.06-25.09.05) of my collection of visiting/calling card cases, the first specialist exhibition to be held.
The book provides an introduction to antique visiting card cases and related etuis, detailing their history, craftsmanship and material production; the first full colour collectors guide to be published.
Over 350 cases, placed on 142 pages, are illustrated in colour within the text or on separate plates, the majority depicted actual size. Many are from my own collection (with some unique pieces), supplemented with images from Bonhams Auctioneers, London, and additional cases from the Harris Museum, Preston, UK.
The book is in English, with a comprehensive German and Danish summary, supplemented with a
4-languages subject dictionary (English-German-French-Danish), a comprehensive index, up-to-date bibliography and details of relevant websites, museums and auctioneers.
The book will be on sale at the Søllerød Museum during the exhibition, but it can also be purchased directly from my private address (below).
